How to Add llms.txt to Your Kajabi Site (and Why 100 of 102 Sites Haven't)

When we audited 102 live Kajabi sites, exactly two had an llms.txt file. That’s the most lopsided statistic in our entire State of Kajabi SEO 2026 dataset — and the clearest opportunity in it.

What llms.txt actually is

llms.txt is an emerging convention, similar in spirit to robots.txt: a plain-text file at the root of your site (yoursite.com/llms.txt) written for AI assistants rather than for search crawlers. Where robots.txt says what bots may access, llms.txt says what your business is — who you are, who you help, and which pages matter — in a format language models can digest cleanly.

Why it matters for a course creator: when someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity “what’s a good course for X,” the assistant assembles an answer from sites it can read and understand. A concise, accurate self-description is the difference between being summarized correctly, being garbled, or being skipped.

What to put in yours

Keep it short, factual, and specific. A working structure:

Write it the way you’d brief a smart assistant who’s about to describe your business to a stranger. Say what would make someone’s problem match your course. Skip marketing superlatives — models weigh plain claims more usefully than hype.

Publishing it on Kajabi

Kajabi doesn’t offer a native way to upload arbitrary root files, so you have two practical routes:

1. Custom domain with an external DNS/hosting layer. If your domain runs through a service like Cloudflare, you can serve /llms.txt at the edge while everything else passes through to Kajabi. This is the cleanest option and takes minutes if your DNS is already there.
2. Ask Kajabi support. Feature availability changes; it’s worth requesting root-file support and registering the demand.

Once it’s live, verify it loads at yourdomain.com/llms.txt in a regular browser tab.
